The Frontbench

A set of 14 panel paintings. Painted with mischievous intent through 2021 during the midst of Covid and in response to the British Government’s handling of the country’s plight: internal squabbles, dubious awarding of contracts, disregard of the public’s common sense and inclination to play fast and loose with precision.

They acknowledge the British tradition of lampooning those in authority from Gillray to Steve Bell and, in particular, early episodes of Spitting Image. They could, of course, apply to many governments. (SC)
