The Pomeranian Trees
Over the past two years I have been leaving Berlin, heading northeast until I reach West Pomerania, adjacent to the Oder Delta. It’s a trip I have made through the seasons. A harsh, vacant landscape; no hills, and a sharp horizon. A landscape, largely vacated in the middle of the last century and with its subsequent complicated history, it mostly ran wild.
Trees cut extraordinary silhouettes against northern skies. Stalwarts; they are the silent witness. (SC)
